Medical Transcription Certificate Program
with Academy of Medical Professions

Medical transcription is a desired field for most people trying to work at home. Strong typing, computer, and English grammar skills are essential. Medical terminology, formats, rules and regulations, jobs, calculation of pay, confidentiality, FTP, and tricks of the trade, all equipment, reference books, and course books are provided with the course fee. Classes are once a week for 16-weeks with a completion of 16 weeks to 6 month options. This is a State Certified Program and you will receive a Certificate of Completion and Letter of Recommendation upon graduation, resumes and how to obtain a job are covered in this program. Course includes medical terminology, Anatomy & physiology and transcription. $2650, includes everything for the course and the field.

HiSET Preparation & Testing

Students will complete preparation activities in the five areas of the HiSET® exam; writing, literature, science, math and social studies. The curriculum in this class is catered towards the individuals needs. Students are given the opportunity to work at their own pace. Must be 17 years old.

Home/Community Composting 101
with Mark King

Have you ever wanted to set up your own home compost operation, but were afraid it was too difficult to do? If so, then this class is for you. During this two-part program, students will be introduced to the world of backyard composting while learning how easy it really is to do! Topics covered will include: an introduction to compost biology, review of various compost systems, a discussion of compost feedstocks and their challenges, how to setup and manage your compost pile/bin, how to trouble-shoot compost problems and finally, what to do with the finished product. This class is designed to appeal to both novice and experienced composters alike. This class will have two virtual meetings and one outdoor in-person meeting.

Behavior Health Professional Certification Training
with Woodfords Family Services
Our community is looking for individuals who want to make a difference in a child’s life. Children’s Behavioral Health Services are vital to Maine’s children with Intellectual Disabilities, Autism and Mental Health Disorders and their families. And the need in our area is great! As an integral part of the child’s treatment team, a Certified Behavioral Health Professional (BHP) has the opportunity to make an immediate impact while helping a child grow and develop to their full potential. We are excited to connect our community with Woodfords Family Service for this wonderful ONLINE training program.
The online training will equip you to successfully help children who are currently on a wait list for services. The training will prepare you for employment through local social services agencies. The program can be started at any time and finished at your own pace. You will complete 12 online modules then two 4-hour live sessions. Once the modules are completed, you will receive free online blood borne pathogen training and virtual First Aid & CPR training if you do not already possess those certifications.
The entire training requirements will take about 45 hours. Any individual who will be 18 years of age or older upon completion of the course may register. The administration fee of $25. See Blended Learning Curriculum at Woodfords Family Service for more information.
