Babysitter Lessons & Safety Training - BLAST

BLAST is a 4 hour course for potential babysitters and parents considering hiring a babysitter. The course covers pediatric 1st aid, household safety, and fundamentals of childcare. It is designed for people 13 and older, their parents, and parents looking to hire a babysitter. BLAST - begin babysitting safely and competently. Price includes class and $10.32 book fee.

The instructor, Josh Wheeler, is Deputy Cheif of EMS/Operations Supervisor, Winthrop Ambulance, Police Officer/911 Dispatcher, Winthrop Police Department, State of Maine Certified Fire/EMS Instructor and AHA/ARC/ECSI Instructor Trainer.

CPR/First Aid

This course is designed to prepare students to provide CPR and use an AED (Auto External Defibrillator) in a safe, timely, and effective manner. The pourse also provides students with knowledge of emergency response, recognition of medical emergencies, and skills specific to providing emergency cardiac care to adults, children, and infants.

Price includes $6.95 book fee.

Functional Fitness for Older Adults

This 45 minute class will help you build strength, maintain bone density and improve your balance (reduce risk of falling and maintain the independence of performing activities in daily life). This is a highly effective exercise program based on safe and simple strength training.

Yoga for Abundant Bodies and Beginner Yogis

Inclusive yoga – yoga for EVERY body.  This class will introduce students to all aspects of yoga, providing information beyond the poses.  The goal of this class is to provide an achievable, safe vinyasa flow for students with larger bodies, to promote strength, flexibility and balance both physically and mentally.   Self-acceptance is promoted. Class is held at Winthrop Town Office Multi Purpose Room, 17 Highland Avenue
