Handling Aggression


with Martial Arts Institute

Handling Aggression will address the 3 stages of conflict and conflict management. The situations presented are geared for real life engagements. Focus will be placed on strategies that deal with verbal disagreements as well as those situations that can escalate and get physical. This 3.5 hour course will begin by focusing on verbal intimidation and how you can respond to someone who is trying to intimidate you or make you feel uncomfortable. We then cover scenarios that go beyond words, where "reasonable force" is needed in order ot regain control of the situation. De-excalation strategies, avoidance techniques, and physical restraining exercises and controlling tactics. Adults 18 and over. No experience necessary

Hunter Safety

The Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife’s Hunter Education Course is more than a “gun safety” class. The Home Study Course consists of about 9 hours of classroom instruction broken up into a 3 hour introduction followed by 2 nights of classroom instruction and activities. Students are required to complete a workbook or an online course to obtain a voucher, both of which complement the student manual. Students must demonstrate to the instructor that they can safely handle a firearm, participate in activities, bring in a survival kit with appropriate  contents and pass a 50 question test with a grade of at least 70%.  Home study is required. You must be on time and attend all three classes. You must be at least 10 years of age before you can take this class.

Three classes: Monday, April 1, Tuesday, April 9, and Thursday, April 11. All classes are 6-9pm and are at the Winthrop Middle School Cafeteria.

This 3.5 hour course is designed to help pet owners provide temporary, urgent care to pets until they can reach a veterinary or emergency clinic. Training covers a wide array of pet emergencies including bleeding and bite wounds, cardiac arrest, choking, burns, poisoning, trauma and more. Price includes $17.50 book fee. Pharmacy Technician Certificate Program

Yoga for Abundant Bodies and Beginner Yogis Session II

The goal of this class is to provide an achievable, safe vinyasa flow for students with larger bodies to promote strength, flexibility and balance both physically and mentally. Self-acceptance is promotes. Wear comfortable, stretchy clothing.
